Our History
How we got here
Fairview Missionary Baptist Church began with a revival in the Fairview School House in 1879-1880. The revival would eventually lead to the establishment of Fairview Freewill Baptist Church in 1882 under the leadership of Reverend David Gow. Sunday School and Sunday Services were held in the school house until a new building was erected and dedicated in 1887.
Due to property disputes with the C & O Railroad, the church was relocated to a new location nearby. The current building was completed and dedicated in 1918, where it still stands to this day.
In the 1920s, our name was changed to Fairview Baptist Church when the church became affiliated with the American Baptist Convention. Upon leaving the convention in 1967, our name became Fairview Missionary Baptist Church. Fairview has been wonderfully blessed by God since its founding in 1882, being a bulwark of the faith in Minford, Ohio for generation after generation. It is our prayer that the true gospel will always be preached from our pulpit, that lost souls will be saved, and that lives will be rededicated to the Lord and His service.
